Who am I?

TheConfidante Counselling and The Relationship Rejuvenator. 

TheConfidante Counselling operating as a sole practitioner providing counselling services.
The Relationship Rejuvenator is responsible for providing education relating to relationships.

My commitment to protect your privacy

I understand how important it is to protect your personal information. This document sets out our privacy policy commitment in respect of personal information I hold about you and what I do with that information. I recognise that any personal information I collect about you will only be used for the purposes I have collected it or as allowed by law. It is important to me that you are confident that any personal information I hold about you will be treated in a way that ensures protection of your personal information.

Our commitment in respect of personal information is to abide by the Australian Privacy Principles for the protection of personal information, as set out in the Privacy Act and any other relevant laws.

Personal information

When I refer to personal information, I mean information from which your identity is reasonably apparent. This information may include information or an opinion about you.

The kinds of personal information I may collect about you include your name, date of birth, address, account details, occupation, and any other information I made need to identify you. I may also need to collect your payment information. I will also collect this information if I need to make payments to you.  

Why I collect your personal information

I may collect personal information for the purposes of direct marketing and managing our relationship with you. From time to time I may offer you other products and services.

I collect payment information if necessary in order to process your payments.

How do I collect your personal information?

Where reasonable and practical I will collect your personal information directly from you either face to face, email, online forms, telephone or via video or audio conferencing.  

Do I disclose your personal information?

I may disclose your personal information:

• to companies that provide software and infrastructure systems to me;
• to my affiliated entities, being The Relationship Rejuvenator or TheConfidante Counselling. (Note: The provision of this information will be for marketing purposes only.)
• to anybody who represents you (Note: this will only occur with your authorisation);
• where I am required to do so by law such as in accordance with a subpoena or summons issued by a court.

Direct marketing

From time to time I may use your personal information to provide you with current information about my relationships services, offers you may find of interest, changes to my organisation, or new products or services being offered by me or any company with whom I am associated.
I may in my absolute discretion choose to provide the name and email address of subscribers to its affiliated companies. The provision of this information will be for marketing purposes only. If you do not wish to receive marketing information, you may at any time decline to receive such information by emailing me at jo@relationshiprejuvenator.com. If the direct marketing is by email you may also use the unsubscribe function. I will not charge you for giving effect to your request and will take all reasonable steps to meet your request within a reasonable time frame.

Updating your personal information

It is important to us that the personal information I hold about you is accurate and up to date. During the course of my relationship with you I may ask you to inform me if your personal information has changed. If you wish to make any changes to your personal information, you may contact me. I will generally rely on you to ensure the information I hold about you is accurate and complete.

Access and correction to your personal information

Most of the personal information that I hold about you will be kept under TheConfidante Counselling or The Relationship Rejuvenator. There may be situations where I am not required to provide you with access to your personal information, for example, if the information relates to existing or anticipated legal proceedings, or if your request is vexatious. An explanation will be provided to you if I deny you access to the personal information I hold about you. If any of the personal information I hold about you is incorrect, inaccurate or out of date you may request that I correct the information.
If appropriate I will correct the personal information. At the time of the request, otherwise, I will provide an initial response to you within seven days of receiving your request. Where reasonable, and after our investigation, I will provide you with details about whether I have corrected the personal information within 30 days.

If I refuse to correct personal information, I will provide you with our reasons for not correcting the information.

Sensitive information

I will only collect sensitive information about you with your full consent. Sensitive information is personal information that includes information relating to your racial or ethnic origin, political persuasion, memberships in trade or professional associations or trade unions, sexual preferences, criminal record, or health.

How safe and secure is your personal information that I hold?

I will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information by storing it in a secure environment. I may store your personal information in electronic form on our secure servers and may also be held in paper form in secure lockable cabinets. 

I will also take reasonable steps to protect any personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. When I share data, it may be transferred to, and processed outside of Australia. Some data is stored within 3rd party software suppliers, where external access is prevented; and cloud service providers whose servers are located outside of Australia. 

Personal data on servers operated by cloud service providers are protected by the appropriate safeguards, which are incorporated into our agreements with such cloud service providers.

Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with how I have dealt with your personal information, or you have a complaint about our compliance with the Privacy Act, you may contact our complaints officer by email at: jo@relationshiprejuvenator.com.

I will acknowledge your complaint within seven days. I aim to provide you with a decision on your complaint within 30 days.

If you are dissatisfied with the response of our complaints officer you may make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner which can be contacted on either www.oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.

Change in our privacy policy

I am constantly reviewing all of our policies and attempt to keep up to date with market expectations. Technology is constantly changing, as is the law and market place practices. As a consequence, I may change this privacy policy from time to time or as the need arises. 

This Privacy Policy came into existence on 1 October 2020.
